The Train in J-town

I was surprised to see a train coming down the First Street Bridge heading west on First Street in front of Nishi Hongwanji Buddhist Temple about 8:35 am today. It was surreal, knowing that it's been decades since trains have run in Little Tokyo. I remember the old train tracks back in the early 70s when I was a child. This is the 2nd one I've seen, so it must be getting close to being ready, huh?

    yeah, crazy that the trains are finally rolling on the tracks. I just need to make that i'm not hit by one since the arm guards aren't yet in place.

    After having to deal with all of the construction the last few years, I'm so happy that it's finally getting closer to being finished!

    Hopefully, it'll bring more people to Little Tokyo since traffic and parking are often barriers that people use for not coming.

    I've heard that they're anticipating that the Little Tokyo stop will be the busiest in the system because of the City Hall, government offices, and courts. Hopefully, some of those people will stop in to the stores and businesses on their way to or from their destinations.

    the Little Tokyo station will definately be a busy one.

    first of all, parking has long been a problem in the area.

    if you're coming in from Pasadena, Little Tokyo is much closer to central downtown than Union Station, without having to transfer to the Red Line.

    if you're coming in from Boyle Heights or East Los Angeles, Little Tokyo is also the logical station for downtown L.A.

    in short, the Little Tokyo station will be a great thing for the community and for Japanese Americans in general. when the station opens, somebody ought to hire some taiko drummers or something just to celebrate the event.

    LT Station would be a great place for a taxi stand. In fact, LT itself could use a lot more taxis.
